Inspired by the Duling Fangding (杜岭方鼎), an early Shang Dynasty bronze vessel unearthed in Zhengzhou, this glass transforms one of ancient China’s most monumental forms into an object for the modern table.

Dating back more than three thousand years, the Duling Fangding is among the earliest large-scale bronze ding vessels discovered in China. Its surface is decorated with taotie motifs and raised nail-head patterns, visual elements associated with the ritual bronze tradition of the Shang Dynasty.

The Duling Fangding Glass reinterprets these ancient details through transparent glass.

Rows of raised circular studs echo the original bronze vessel’s 乳钉纹 — nail-head pattern, while the sculptural motifs above draw inspiration from the mysterious ornamentation of Shang bronze art.

But where the original was cast in bronze, this piece is made in glass.
